RESIDENTS ENJOY OLDFIELD’S AUDUBON CERTIFIED COOPERATIVE SANCTUARY
Not only can Oldfield residents enjoy the Okatie River and the surrounding freshwater lakes for fun-filled and educational diversions, but they can also mingle with the many other “neighbors” residing in this Audubon Certified Cooperative Sanctuary. Oldfield’s River Pro Jason DuBose and Charlie Beadon and Naturalist Marvin Bouknight introduce residents to the many species of wildlife living in and around the community. Summer can bring out some interesting creatures to observe!
- DuBose, Beadon and Bouknight have scheduled a full moon river excursion for July. The beauty of the sun setting and the moon rising over the Okatie is so breathtaking and relaxing as residents kayak paddle with leisure.
- Summer temperatures, the hotter the better, are perfect for butterflies and dragonflies that call Oldfield home. Bouknight introduces these “neighbors” through one of his many monthly presentations. Residents will discover about these wonders and their very different lives and lifestyles.
- Butterflies might not be everyone’s venue for excitement, but how about taking the Crepuscular Critter Tour? The tour is a night walk, and members will join Bouknight to seek out different locations for anything that creeps, crawls, climbs or clambers around at night!
Oldfield residents have the opportunity to take advantage of the natural environment in their Certified Cooperative Sanctuary this summer through the many programs offered!
