OLDFIELD TO HOST THE 2008 WOMEN'S SCGA JUNIOR GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIP
Oldfield will proudly host the Women’s South Carolina Golf Association’s 2008 Junior Girls Championship on June 10 – 12 on an award winning golf course designed by PGA Tour legend Greg Norman. The event, which is free and open to the public, will feature many of the top junior players from across the Palmetto State. The tournament will feature four age groups, ranging between the ages of 8 and 18.
“We’re proud to host such a prestigious tournament here at Oldfield,” says Jon Hundley, Oldfield’s head golf professional. “These will definitely be some of the best junior players in the state of South Carolina.”
The girls’ junior golf program of the Women’s South Carolina Golf Association strives to enhance the lives of girls through exposure to the game of golf, by fostering competition, sportsmanship, and an appreciation for the integrity of the game. The program promotes the development of competitive skills in young women and provides opportunities to showcase those skills, all while learning life’s great lessons through the game of golf.
“This event offers the opportunity to see some of the best junior players in the state in action,” says Inez Long, executive director of the Women’s SCGA. “We invite the public to come out and support our players and to witness some outstanding competition of the golf course.”
