Never A Dull Moment

This year has gotten off to a great start! I want to again thank all of our members for being so supportive of the Oldfield Food & Beverage Department. We have had so many great changes so far in 2012. Our F&B Committee continues to help in so many ways.

In the next few months we have events for members including some surprise birthday parties, oyster roasts, & lowcountry boils. Just remember no matter how big or small I can cater any size event at just about any of the venues inside Oldfield.

I’ve had numerous meetings with newly engaged brides who are just starting the process of planning their weddings. Our first wedding is a Savannah GA couple the end of March. Weddings here have become a huge part of Oldfield. We have brides from New York to California this year. They all want what the South has to offer which is a warm and welcoming feeling the minute they step foot inside the gates.

I was recently contacted by Hilton Head Monthly for a piece they did on weddings in the area, here is the link: http://www.hiltonheadmonthly.com/life-a-style/monthlys-2011-bridal-guide/141-monthlys-2011-bridal-guide/2145-something-old-something-new

I have been lucky in the last month to attend the Bridal show in Charleston, Savannah and our local event here in Bluffton at Hampton Hall. We are happy to host these destination weddings here at Oldfield. The trends this year that are dominating the wedding market are wedding weekend welcome parties with different Southern desserts from pecan pie, key lime tartlets, peach cobbler, bread pudding  bars, and my favorite, the gourmet Smore’s Station out by our fire pit. Keep checking out my blog so you can see all of my updates throughout the year.

Have a great day!

Oldfield Chili Cook-Off at the Outfitters Center

I am so proud of all of our Oldfield cooks this past weekend. It was a gorgeous day to host our 1st annual Oldfield Chili Cook-Off at the Outfitters Center.

15 members & 3 chef’s decided to take the challenge. Members went head to head with each other and the Judges were the Oldfield Culinary team Jason Winn- Executive Chef, Dana Chastain- Food & Beverage Director and Kevin Edwards Sous Chef.

It was a very tough decision to make, Buzz Vest was awarded the top prize for his “ Buzz’s Death Proof Chili” of the he feedback and member participation was astounding. The whole community turned out and got to sample all of the chili’s.

I want to say that the atmosphere was warm and welcoming and many sat by the fireplace or out by the fire pit. I definitely have plans for another cook off in the summer months. I will  send out the details of the competition in the coming months.

I also want to remind everyone that our new Birthday Dinner at the Clubhouse will be held the 2nd Thursday of every month. If it is your birthday you eat for free and get a complimentary piece of cake. This event was well attended last month and who can turn down Prime Rib?

Be sure to RSVP in advance so we know who gets a special treatment! Be sure to check out our new menu at River Club as well, we have over twenty items to choose from. Have a great week and I’ll see you in the club!

Fall Festival

Our Fall Festival was a great success!! We had approximately 400 – 450 people who came out and enjoyed River Cruises, kids activities, food and wonderful music from The B – Town Project! Entry fees were collected and proceeds will be donated to The United Way of the Lowcountry.  A special thank you goes out to local businesses who helped make this a wonderful day: Servpro, Nue Homes, TPG, Oceanwoods, NLaws, Classic Party Rentals, , Sign D’ Sign, FireFlys, Pretty Women Day Spa and The United Way of the Lowcountry.

Weddings & Oldfield

Yay for fall!! I am getting super excited about my fall weddings coming up. I have 3 beautiful brides that all have gorgeous plans to use River Club & Outfitter Center for their upcoming nuptials and rehearsals. All of the final details are coming into place and the whole planning process is just as exciting to me, I feel like a bride.  With the help of chef, our engaged couples have decided on (mostly southern) themed menus. Who doesn’t enjoy a casual Lowcountry Boil for a family rehearsal dinner? One of our happy couples has even decided to do a river cruise exit off the dock with a champagne toast exit. If you know of a newly engaged couple who would like a truly unique venue for their special day, have them give me a call.

We still continue to have Champagne Brunch every fourth Sunday at River Club. Fall is the busiest time to dine on the porches, be sure to make your reservations early! ½ priced wines still in effect as well at River Club. We have a huge selection on the half price menu. Come join us Thursday’s or Friday’s from 5:30 to 8pm at River Club. I hope to see you there!

Party on the Patio

We have an exciting new night down at the River Club! Party on the Patio !! We have a tapas menu along with our regular dinner menu; and we have live entertainment from 6;30-8:30pm. The breeze is always blowing and the music is amazing.

Don’t forget only 2 weeks left of the 2 for $30 entrees on Friday night. Also coming up is the First Friday for August down at the pool. We will be serving up Authentic Paella. Please make all dinner reservations thru Jenn 645-4600. I would love to see everyone on Casual Tuesday at Magnolia Grill, you can always enjoy a $1 specialty drink. See you at the Club!

Music on the Lawn

The lawn at the River Club was perfectly shaded and the breeze coming off the river was delightful.  I would say that this weekend was perfect for our summer kick-off for “Music on the Lawn” concert series!

The band was amazing and played numerous cover band songs that everyone was singing! The food was fantastic and the drinks were great. We have the Jeff Beasley Band coming out on Sunday July 17th, make sure you make reservations to eat that day.  I have another amazing menu planned for that day!

We have a new promotion for Thursday’s called Party on the Patio. We will feature live entertainment on the porch and also feature an additional tapas style menu. I look forward to seeing you all at the club!

Sunshine and Blue Skies

The kids are having a blast at Wild One Camp in Oldfield! We tie dye shirts and design our own hats! We create crafts and make memories all day long! It has been extremely hot out here and we always take the time to drink a bunch of water and or play in the water!

Other than being poolside, each kid has a personal journal that he or she draws, writes, or makes collages in. At the end of the summer they can take those journals with them and always remember Camp Oldfield.

The kids have the time and space to make believe here. They use their minds to imagine and learn. We try to keep activities fresh, fun, and educational. In some games they have to use their brain to resolve a problem or exercise their memory. They love the games so much that they always want to repeat, repeat, and repeat.

All I want for these kids is to have fun while staying safe, happy, healthy, and smart! Thanks for reading, this is Samee and I’m out!

River Club Dining

Enjoy the River Club dining this week !! The breeze coming off the river is amazing! We have a great 2 for $30 special this month. The chef has a variety of local fish on the menu paired perfectly with fresh organic side dishes.

Don’t forget also we are featuring half price wine on Thursday’s & Friday’s. One of the most popular half price selections is the Sawbuck Chardonnay and Cabernet.

Be sure to make reservations for our 4th of July Picnic at the Outfitter’s Center. Keg will be available for $2 drafts and a great menu of BBQ Chicken and all the fixings. Can’t wait to see ya’ll there! Have a happy and safe Independence Day weekend.

Oldfield Camp for Kids & Grandkids

Hello everybody!  Samee here! We are having so much fun outside in the heat over here at the Sports Club!

Over the weekend, Camp Oldfield had a great turn out! This was my first camp ever, as well as the year, and I am completely satisfied with the outcome! The kids had a blast!

We split the camp up in two age groups to focus on the different age appropriate activities. The little ones are called Grasshoppers and the older kids are called Gators. The Grasshoppers had fun finger painting, playing silly little games, and running around on the basketball court! The Gators stayed for a delicious lunch and enjoyed water fights, getting messy with shaving cream, and even swimming in the pool at the end of the day!

The first day of camp really opened my eyes for new and exciting things for this summer and even the rest of the year! I am looking forward to having more kids join our camps. More kids equal more fun and more opportunities for bigger and better things. Kids, come join me and we’ll swim the summer away!

Good Times

Good afternoon Oldfield friends! It has been a super busy last 2 months with weddings and other private events. One of our highlights was our member Jim Davidson’s concert on the lawn as he had a few friends from Nashville drop by and join him. We had about a hundred folks who brought their lawn chairs and enjoyed the concert.

Our pot of gold finally had a winner of $1700, the prize went to Mr. & Ms. Braddock. She was so excited to win. The Pot goes back to $500. Don’t forget our Casual Tuesday’s at the clubhouse.

I look forwad to our music on the lawn series starting in June. Watch your weekly eblasts to keep up with what’s going on. I look forward to seeing you at the club!
